Regardless of which CRM features you find most attractive, it’s important to keep in mind that pharmaceutical companies have their own specific needs that their CRM solutions must address.

The following are a few examples:

Mobile support. With pharma sales representatives often on-the-go, meeting with medical providers and business partners or attending conferences, it’s critical that the CRM solution their company relies on would have strong mobile device functioning and support. Ensure that the mobile version of the CRM solution offers a full suite of features and allows easy access to the database of customer information.

Regulatory compliance. Pharma representatives need to remain mindful of the regulations governing not only their products and services, but also the way they can interact with clients and customers. The CRM solution they rely on must account for regulatory parameters, including the information that’s appropriate or permissible to share and the kinds of exchanges that are allowed. Another critical consideration is to protect the data the CRM solution stores, manages, and transmits; for example, any data that falls under HIPAA regulations must be safeguarded appropriately.

Product monitoring. Ideally, your CRM solution will allow you to easily keep an eye on how different products and services are performing, including those that you’ve distributed as samples. The CRM solution should collect and integrate information from multiple sources, including feedback from medical providers and patients, reports of adverse reactions, and sales in different markets.
